1+1=3 dog. me. we. 3 completely different identities. all are pertinent.
My personhood training involves a conscientious approach beginning with a general assessment of the dog, diet, locomotion, attitude, individual character, & reactionary response (along the lines of Dr. Bach's great work). These aspects are key to my creating an interesting, positive, structured acumen for the dog to bloom in. I call my training "personhood training"because we truly ask a great deal from our dogs, humanising them while our own connection with nature dissipates alarmingly. This strange dichotomy has created an imperiled state for dog-brains. They're dogs! We don't want to impose our human being onto dogs...do we? If your answer is yes....I'm not the trainer for you & your dog. I merely lay my conditioning in...day-by-day...for a PERFECT Best-in-Home dog. A dog with personhood skills.
There are a few breeds I won't engage with, they are: American Cocker Spaniels, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Labradoodles, Bernese Mountain Dogs, German Shepherds, Pit Bulls...& any so-called "designer breeds" containing the aforementioned breeds. I'm not an aficionado of these varieties & therefore decline to work with them.
A dog in training lives loose in my home with access to a Great Dane-sized wire crate or the Impact Collapsible...he is neverkenneled or left outside. NEVER. On the contrary, the only time he is ever out-of-doors is when he is on the end of a leash or tracking line tethered like an astronaut to me, his lifeline. He is always in my home. As I accept only 1 dog at a time...& operate on a 30-day training protocol, I invest a great deal of time into the guest-dog. He'll encounter all sorts of people, vehicles, deliveries, noise, music, activity, circumstances & adventures. At night, he will sleep on a heap of poofy Eiderdown feather beds, loose & right next to me.
While I do utilise an ecollar in my training (if needed). I prefer establishing responses borne from respect- a decision by the dog, an authentic desire to please. These are time-consuming, but GENUINE responses/reactions. Not immediate conditioning from static electricity. This is how seeming "miracle-worker dog trainers" get their reputations! They zap a dog into being an instant miracle. Oh dear. In addition, I NEVER give an ecollar to my clients. These collars require countless hours of observation in dogs & in advanced response recognition.
I work like an artisan, layering skill-sets in authentically in a collage of positivity. The dog will go on walks, road-trips, tracking sessions & other stimulating adventures. These events are engaging & in some cases, anxiety-producing. We work (the dog & I) to an level of acute reasoning. This is borne from trust.
Skill-sets that I lay in are: civilised ingress & egress of any/all doors & doorways. These include man-doors, car doors, crate doors; basic obedience on private property...& basic obedience on neutral property ( a whole other ballgame!)...sit, stay, down, come...long-sit, long-stay, long-down....; these are serious commands & personhood aids which absolutely MUST exist in today's society. Custom settings that I like to add, such as "get small"...(an immediate and complete flop on the ground which almost looks like a cower...perfect for small children running about, elderly people, injured people, anxious people, people in wheel chairs, on-coming small dogs etc...) & "wait"...(this is great for ingress/egress, treats, transitions from on-leash to off-leash, answering a cell-phone while in a public locale...etc...)....I also use the universal "go pee-pee"....there certainly is a more regal vernacular...but this one stands as the universal command...hence, my use of it...
Like classical dressage...my training is laid in kindly, properly & slowly with the dog's soul in mind! To that end, I use only Herm Sprenger choke (which are not a choking device at all) chains...& bio-thane leashes,amish-made & varying in length from the standard 6' line....to incredibly long tracking lines (which I use in lieu of the nasty Flexi)...all are procured from Leerburg.com.
My goals are to give nature back to the dog in a sort of overture while simultaneously, availing personhood skills for the dog's successful immersion into modern human life.
Fees: $3500.00 for 1 month. *I do not accept any dogs who are on medication in for training...their natural responses are inauthentic & unreliable. *I must be contacted prior to accepting a dog into my life for training. * My fee must be paid for in advance. * I do not accept aggressive dogs.
