My acumen is really quite a common-sense/tried & true shtick that I have developed as I've gone along over the decades. I begin with ENS (early neurological stimulation) protocols which enjoy a long & storied career of credibility in dogdom. In addition, the healthful feeding that my puppies enjoy, as well as daily walks in nature, alchemise in a valuable overture towards the zenith. What IS "the zenith"? That once-in-a-lifetime dog.
My puppies begin lapping up a gruel of goat's milk, leg of lamb, Idahound rabbit meat & organic oatmeal as soon as they begin to toddle. Gradually, I add fruits & vegetables to this delectable menu, with the puppies coveting whole cabbages, carrots, apples, broccoli, celery & bananas. At this point, each puppy has his/her own stainless steel feeding bowl & a name which she'll respond to, this important step towards assertive self-management cannot be stressed enough! By 4 weeks of age, my little beasts are enjoying a mash of the above, combined with a kibble formulae. In addition, I introduce Idahound (lamb) green tripe to the puppy-diet & provide raw marrow bones to everyone. Perfect mastication means perfect dentition, orbital & occiputal development & a strapping gut! The first steps of social structure & respect have been layered, collage-like, with the puppies radiant in health.
At 6 weeks of age, Maman usually begins the weaning process. Her teats: chapped, scratched & bruised are nothing but pacifiers! The dominant puppies of the litter nearly always occupy not only the same teat, but usually one of the front teats, with the better milk supply! The raucous aspect of nursing a writhing horde of clawed & fanged puppies is quite enough for any Maman! I therefore increase the goat's milk & add Great Lakes Collagen to the puppy diet, as the noble dam will undoubtedly hand the reins to me within this time-frame. The puppies, briefly morose & mournful, have a depression which is fleeting & topical. The mother of the litter will snarl & snap at her puppies as they attempt to suckle, however, she will be "all bark & no bite", as she moves them into their next phase of independence. Her social contribution continues to be ever-important & I often find myself singing Aretha's "Respect"...the puppies each receive their first vaccine, a single dose of Neo Par Parvo.
By 8 weeks of age, the litter has been wormed several times & have received their 2nd Neo-Par single parvo shot & a Neo-Gen distemper injection. They eat solid food ad lib & several meals of raw meats. They're enjoying my proprietary herbal blend of Marshmallow Root; Slippery Elm; Icelandic Kelp; Hyssop; Red Clover & other great dog herbs... they have been collared, exposed to a leash, have had recall work & become familiarised with their names, they've had regular nail-trimmings, brushings, ear-cleanings & several general assessments as to their characters & specialties. The notes that I take, as well as the fotografic documentation of their development are extensive & online via this website so that everyone can join in on the excitement!
By 10 weeks of age, the puppies have had their 3rd Parvo/distemper injection (Nobivac)...this vaccine also provides immunity against adenovirus 2 & parainfluenza & are quite solid little citizens. They have the countenance such as only a true Anatolian can possess. They are elegant, observant, adorable, sweet, thoughtful & confident! They depart for their new lives in this spirit & with my best wishes & thoughts. I feel infinitely connected to them, bound by a permanent thread, & am always available for sharing my knowledge with you. After all, we hand-picked one another.
I love Revival as a supplier who does a grrrreat job shipping vaccines...you don't need a prescription to purchase vaccinations & wormer...
